Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Game Drive
Morning: Arrival in Maasai Mara
- Arrive at the Maasai Mara Reserve, either by road from Nairobi or by flying into one of the nearby airstrips like Keekorok or Ol Kiombo.
Afternoon: Check-in and Lunch
- Check-in to your chosen accommodation (camp or lodge) and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Late Afternoon: Evening Game Drive
- Head out on your first game drive in the Maasai Mara. Game drives are usually conducted in open-top safari vehicles with experienced guides.
- Keep an eye out for the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) as well as other wildlife like giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes.
- Enjoy a beautiful sunset in the savannah.
Evening: Dinner and Campfire
- Return to your accommodation for dinner.
- Many lodges and camps offer cultural experiences such as Maasai dance performances around a campfire.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive
Morning: Hot Air Balloon Safari (Optional)
- If you're interested, consider an early morning hot air balloon safari to witness the sunrise and the Mara from above. It's an incredible experience but usually requires an additional fee.
Late Morning: Game Drive
- After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive. You can either take a packed lunch with you or return to your lodge for lunch, depending on your preference.
Afternoon: Continue Game Drive
- Explore different areas of the reserve, following the movements of the wildlife.
Evening: Return to Lodge/Camp
- Return to your accommodation for a relaxing evening.
- Enjoy dinner and share stories about your wildlife encounters.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Departure
Morning: Early Game Drive
- Start your day with an early morning game drive when animals are most active.
- Don't forget to capture some incredible photos.
Late Morning: Breakfast and Check-Out
- Return to your lodge or camp for breakfast.
- Check out of your accommodation.
Midday: Visit a Maasai Village (Optional)
- If you're interested in learning more about the Maasai culture, you can arrange a visit to a nearby Maasai village to interact with the locals and experience their way of life. Please do so respectfully and responsibly.
Afternoon: Departure
- Depending on your schedule, you can either drive back to Nairobi or catch a flight from the nearby airstrip.
